Overview
The TLC鈥檚 focus is on pedagogy. We want to provide best practices and to be a responsible voice for those instructors looking for advice about how to handle their classroom and course. The Teaching and Learning Center fosters a culture of collaborative learning, pedagogical inquiry, and community engagement. Through workshops, seminars, and consultations, we encourage culturally sensitive, community-engaged, project-based learning.

Schedule Consultations and Meeting Restrictions
The Teaching and Learning Center staff provides pedagogical, OER, and to CCNY faculty by conducting individual training sessions and workshops through Zoom or email correspondence. We do not currently offer in-person appointments. CCNY instructors are responsible for building and managing their Brightspace course sites. TLC staff can show you how to build the site, but cannot build the site for you. The TLC staff aims to help instructors use technology to achieve their pedagogical aims. Instructors are limited to two, non-consecutive appointments per week, eight appointments per semester. TLC consultants serve as instructors and in other student support roles on campus. If we are unable to answer a question during a session, we will research the issue and get back to you as soon as possible.
In order to properly accommodate a wide variety of needs and faculty, here are our Consultation Guidelines:
- Back to Back Meetings are discouraged. We will if necessary cancel back-to-backs as they prevent other faculty from being seen.
- 2 Meetings Per Week
- 8 Meetings Per Semester
Individual appointments should be scheduled ahead of time by clicking here:
Diversity and Equity
As Chancellor Matos Rodr铆guez reminds us, 鈥渦niversities can be the engines of change and badly needed reforms.鈥 TLC is committed to supporting the diverse CCNY community in fulfilling the college鈥檚 founding mission of access and opportunity. Below are a variety of resources on anti-racist, diversity- and equity-driven pedagogies, many with consideration toward online learning environments. This list is ongoing, and we invite you to share resources that have helped to shape your teaching practices in these areas. If you have a resource that you鈥檇 like to contribute, please contact us at tlc@ccny.cuny.edu
