Havana, Cuba Winter Program

From Harlem to Havana - Musical Intensive in Cuba
Dates: January 3-17  | Credits: 3

From Harlem to Havana is a faculty-led Winter Session study abroad program led by Professor Suzanne Pittson for CUNY students currently enrolled in music or jazz programs. Conducted at the prestigious Universidad de las Artes (ISA) in Havana, the program combines intensive, hands-on musical training with cultural immersion in one of the world’s most vibrant musical capitals.

Over two weeks, students will:

  • Gain practical skills in percussion, clave rhythms, arranging, improvisation, and ensemble performance.

  • Collaborate with ISA students in rehearsals, jam sessions, and two public performances—one on campus and one at an off-campus venue.

  • Deepen their artistry through cross-cultural exchange and immersion in Havana’s music scene.

Daily Schedule (Monday–Friday, 10 AM–5 PM)
