Marc Palmieri

Profile

Marc Palmieri is a playwright, author, screenwriter, director, dramaturge and actor who has taught for CCNY's English and MFA program in Creative Writing. He is a full time Associate Professor at Mercy University in Dobbs Ferry, and also a faculty member at the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts, teaching screenwriting. He is the two-time recipient of Mercy's Outstanding Research Award (2023, 2025) and the Innovative Teaching Award (2022). He is the author of numerous plays (published by Dramatists Play Service, Inc.) and the memoir She Danced With Lightning (Post Hill Press)Marc wrote the original screenplay for Miramax Films鈥 Telling You, and has published in numerous literary journals and magazines. Marc is a fully vested member of SAG-AFTRA and Actors Equity, and played the lead role in Shooting Gallery鈥檚 IFP Spirit Award-nominated feature film, Too Much Sleep. As a playwright, Marc has worked with Axis Company, Theatre at Saint Clement鈥檚, South Coast Repertory, Penn State Centre Stage, Redhouse Theatre, The Lark Play Development Center, Rattlestick Playwright鈥檚 Theatre and many more. His plays include the first American professionally produced play written for a streaming platform in 2020, Waiting For The Host, the 2009 New York Times 鈥Critic鈥檚 Pick,鈥 LevittownThe GroundlingPoor Fellas and Carl The Second. His adaptation of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night premiered at Axis Company in 2024 and is published by Theatrical Rights Worldwide. e is represented by Alex Glass of Alex Glass Literary, and by Carole Ingber & Associates for television commercials. Marc was also once a baseball player, drafted in 1989 in the Major League Amateur Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. He serves as Mercy University's pitching coach for their Division II baseball program. Marc was awarded at Citation of Honor from New York City in 2023 for his advocacy work in epilepsy awareness.
