Abraham Wolcott
Visting Research Professor
Professor Wolcott is a physical chemist interested in the surface chemistry of bulk and nanoscale materials. Over the last 20 years, Dr. Wolcott has researched numerous materials including CdSe, CdTe, PbSe, ZnO, TiO2, WO3, Gold and carbon-based nanomaterials. Currently, his main focus is on the surface chemistry of diamond and the sensing properties of the nitrogen vacancy (NV) center. The NV Center is a quantum bit capable of NMR-like detection using an optical microscope. At City College, Dr. Wolcott collaborates with Prof Carlos Meriles in Physics along with a cast of colleagues in the United States and abroad. Prof. Wolcott also investigates the use of next generation teaching tools, including the use of virtual reality and extended reality in science and engineering courses. For those interested in using the VR tools please contact him directly.
