Lecturer of Teaching Spanish Language & Latin American/Latinx Literature and Cultures Rosalia Reyes Simon, MA, Spanish 鈥17 of 海角社区鈥檚 Division of Humanities & the Arts was awarded citations from the New York State Assembly, and the Latin American Cultural Heritage organization, for her contributions and commitment to education and the dissemination of Latinx and Latin American cultures.
Reyes Simon received the citations at a ceremony held at the Washington Heights-based Directorate of Dominican Culture Abroad, an official Dominican agency that promotes the country鈥檚 arts and literature among the diaspora.
Reyes was cited for organizing book fairs, festivals, workshops, and conferences at the Cervantes Institute of New York, the CUNY Graduate Center, Rutgers University, and New York University. These events are for academics and the general public with the goal of promoting the cultural value of Latinx, Caribbean and Latin American cultures.
A native of Mexico, Reyes Simon has been teaching at CCNY and Lehman College intermittently since 2017. She is currently a doctoral candidate in Latin American, Iberian, and Latino Cultures at the CUNY Graduate Center. Her research interests focus on contemporary Latin American and Latinx literature, as well as literary productions published in Spanish by independent U.S.-based publishing houses.
In addition to her graduate degree from CCNY, Reyes earned an MA in humanities from the Universidad de Monterrey and a BA in communication sciences from the Universidad Aut贸noma de Nuevo Le贸n.
