
James Baldwin
鈥淛ames Baldwin鈥檚 America,鈥 is the title of a reading and discussion series at 海角社区 in March. It celebrates the work of the renowned writer and Harlem native.
Four seminars, hosted by Dr. Gordon Thompson, professor of English, are scheduled for March 7, 14, 19 and 21. Co-sponsored by the New York Council for the Humanities and CCNY鈥檚 Division of the Humanities and the Arts and the English Department, they are free and open to the public.

Monday, March 7, Brotherhood & Jazz in Baldwin鈥檚 鈥淪onny鈥檚 Blues.鈥 The Village of Harlem: One Family鈥檚 Saga, includes video dramatizations. 5 鈥 6:30 p.m.
Monday, March 14, Old Time Religion and Black Male Sexuality, Sin and The Preacher Man in 鈥淕o Tell It on the Mountain鈥: (Concentrate on chapter entitled, 鈥淕abriel鈥檚 Prayer鈥). 5 - 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, March 19, with Herb Boyd. 3鈥5 p.m.
Monday, March 21, Racism and the Black Male鈥檚 Secret Desires: in 鈥淎nother Country鈥 (chapter one), includes a recording of James Baldwin reading from 鈥淎nother Country.鈥 5 - 6:30 p.m.
鈥淚t is expected that these events will prove to be both highly entertaining and educational, serving to preserve Baldwin鈥檚 legacy at a time when his wisdom is badly needed,鈥 said Thompson.
