Juli谩n Antonio Vald茅s Ram铆rez, Ph.D. is a professor of Philosophy and Politics at the Universidad Aut贸noma de Santo Domingo (UASD). In 2019, he was named Professor of the Year in both the Department of Sociology and the Department of Economics at UASD. Prof. Valdes is a prolific writer. His list of publications include 50 a帽os de construcci贸n democr谩tica: Rep煤blica Dominicana de 1961 a 2011, published in 2015 by FUNGLODE and La relacion naturaleza-cultura como clave hermen茅utica de la antropolog铆a estructural de Claude L茅vi-Strauss, winner of the Pedro Henr铆quez Ure帽a National Essay award in 2018. His latest research project, titled "Sue帽os de superaci贸n. Estudiantes dominicanos en la educaci贸n superior de New York 2000- 2020: estad铆sticas y percepciones" will analyze institutional data from 2000 to 2020 to assess educational mobility among college students of Dominican ancestry in the State of New York. "Sue帽os de superaci贸n" is an expanded and updated version of (2004), the first detailed study ever conducted on Dominican students in Higher Education in the United States.
