PURE LAND is a documentary about Reverend Miki Nakura, a Shin Buddhist minister, and Toni Katz, an older woman. Rev. Nakura from Higashi Hongwanji came to New York City to spread Shin Buddhism as a solo traveling monk. Toni and her husband were impressed by his mission and invited him to stay at their home in New Jersey, which was a short bus ride into New York City. Each morning, Rev. Nakura would hold morning service with Sutra chanting, Dharma messages, and discussion. Nori produced a beautiful film documenting the life of a Buddhist minister and a seeker of Buddhist wisdom.
Hosted by CCNY CWE at QUEST.
A formal invitation with RSVP details to follow.
We look forward to seeing you there!
