Comments and ideas on gravity and noncommutative spaces
Formulating a proper quantum theory of gravity has long been a major problem. Motivated by this, recently, a number of interesting and imaginative ideas have been proposed about the nature of space, spacetime and gravity. These have also produced an overlap of interests between mathematics, high energy physics, condensed matter physics, etc. I will review some of these ideas, admittedly my own selection, focusing, as best as I can, on concepts, rather than mathematical formalism.
